We’re feel very lucky here at Apple County to be living in such a stunning part of the country. If you’re anything like us, now that the longer days have arrived and the sun is shining, you’ll want to be spending as much time as possible outside…
And our cider experiences on our farm in Skenfrith, Monmouthshire, offer you the perfect opportunity to do just that! Get some fresh air, relax in the sunshine and, of course, enjoy a cider or two!
Our Orchard Walk provides a fabulous 3-mile walk through our rows of blackcurrants and beautiful apple trees we’ve been growing and nurturing since 1969. It also gives amazing views of the gorgeous Monnow Valley. Come and enjoy the same wonderful landscape that we get to see every day!
A new exciting addition to our Orchard Walk is the introduction of our Orchard Picnic! We’ve selected locally produced delights from The Marches Delicatessen in Monmouth, including cheeses, charcuterie and delicious bread, to create a gourmet picnic for you to eat after enjoying our orchard walk. We deliver the picnic, along with a couple of bottles of our yummy cider, to the orchard for a time to suit you. All you need to do is pick your favourite spot! Picnics are £17.50 per person and need to be pre-ordered by calling us on 01600 750 835. Following that, if you’re still thirsty, you can visit our cellar door for a tasting session…
Our Tutored Cider Tasting and Tour includes a guided walk through the orchard and a visit to the production barn. Then you’ll have a cider tasting at the cellar door – we’ll take you through our yummy range of ciders, with tasting notes and suggested food pairings.
What’s more, it doesn’t have to end there! Our cider shop in the barn stocks our full range of ciders, including traditional still cider, plus lovely homemade jams, coulis, local Welsh ales, honey and ice creams. Our shop opening hours are 10-6 on Monday – Saturday, and 10-5 on Sundays. You can fill your boots!
If you’re keen to make a weekend of it, the River Monnow offers excellent fishing opportunities. There are also plenty of longer scenic walk routes around Skenfrith, as well as the castle to visit! The Bell is only a short drive from us and offers lovely rooms and delicious food in their restaurant. Alternatively, for the full outdoors experience, the Three Castles Caravan and Camping Parkis also close by and has excellent facilities.
