early blossom buds - blog 1

LET’S HEAR IT FOR THE MUMS!

With Mother’s Day just around the corner, we thought we’d dedicate this blog to all of the wonderful mums out there and all of the hard work they do.

Our very own working mum Steph is the vital right hand of the business – Apple County couldn’t function without her!

Now that Spring has sprung Steph already has her hands full helping Ben spring clean the farm and pruning the apple trees in the orchards where the buds are starting to appear. The production schedule for the busy summer period is already underway too, and the cider is still fermenting – we can hear it bubbling away as we speak.

Steph’s other role of course, is being a wonderful mummy to our son Francis, now 3 years old (how time flies). Francis absolutely loves growing up on a farm in the beautiful welsh countryside. He especially likes it when he gets to help Steph take Pippin and Wurzel the Labradors out for a walk to Skenfrith castle, or going on a wildlife trail looking for badger sets in the orchards.

We all know how rare some down time can be for working mums. This Mother’s Day if Steph gets the chance she tells us she’ll be going for a lovely long walk in the sunshine, followed by a drink at The Bell and a delicious roast dinner with Ben, Francis, and their friends.

So, to Steph, and all the other mums out there, we’d like to say a big THANK YOU for all that you do, and to tell you to put your feet up this Mother’s Day.

In particular, we’d like to raise a glass to the fantastic working mums from other Welsh artisan producers including: Anghared over at The Preservation Society, Alison at Halen Mon, Ruth at Cwm Farm, and Flo from the Parsnipship.

If you’re looking to treat your Mum this Mother’s Day, why not head over to our online shop? We’ve got plenty to choose from, and there’s still plenty of time to order in time for Sunday. How about a case of our delicious raspberry cider made using local cloudy raspberry juice – yum! Alternatively, with our mixed gift packs of either 6 or 12 bottles you really can’t go wrong (and if you’re lucky she might even share them round!).
